A wiper is a cross from a white BASS and a striper. White perch have no stripes and are an invasive from the east coast.

That's why I don't think it's a wiper. There are no striped bass anywhere in MN. The area I was fishing is a tributary of the Mississippi, which is well stocked naturally with white bass. There really wouldn't be any reason to stock wipers in this lake.

I quess I could have expanded my comment. I say its a white bass. It has 3 lines extending all the way to the tail. I think the confusion here is a geographical thing. On the east coast they don't have white bass since they are native to the missippi drainage. So for the east coast folks if they have a temperate bass whith stripes its either a true striper which never has broken lines are a hybrid which always has broken lines. They also have white perch which are native to the east coast which doesn't have lines but mainly sticks to brackish areas.

Thats a stripped bass i think im in mass and we catch them all the time the biggest one i caught this year in 40" long what a mean fight that was. Are u in fresh water or salt?

Well its been figured out its not a striped bass or white perch.
