Dwarf puffers or a crab setup. The sbc is a good option or the male ram.

So I ended up checking out a lfs on the way back from a job interview and they had Australian desert gobies, which is a fish I attempted to get my hands on for my freshman year dorm fish. I ended up doing an impulse buy and got one. They have a very short lifespan, and I think they're a good fit for the situation.

Post pics. It sounds pretty cool. My dad has a red spotted goby and it's awesome.
