ten gallon tank ideas?

is it possible to get just females? or would two males fight over the space? would a male and 3 females even breed or fight?
 
hey nitro! where are you in Illinois???? if u are anywhere near animal island in Midlothian...you should go there jason has a ton of africans and knows his stuff too...
 
i live in a town called kirkland. it has a pop. of about 1200. its in between rockford and dekalb by half hours.

ok. well my idea for a tankmate for these would be a swordtail as they stay on the top and i dont think they are capable of eating one of these fish. is there a way to order them to where i can get females or is it just what comes comes? if i can order them by sex, should i just get two males, or 3 to 4 females? if i cant order them like that then what should i do?
 
swordtails won't really like the water parameters either....and i doubt you can order them sexed
 
What I would recommend is a low maintenance but beautiful tank, get some Christmas moss and egg crate and get a wall of moss growing in the back of the tank, next get java moss and some fine black gravel and place it all around, get some nice looking shrimp species such as crystal red, cherry, amano.. etc. That would look cool and be super low maintenance
 
so should i just go with like 3 shellies then? and what would you suggest for a tankmate? its says only tankmates that wont make a lunch out of them.
