Long story short, I just got this tank a few days ago from Tenecor to discover a chip on the bottom left corner of the tank. The chip goes half way into the 1/2 inch acrylic side panel. I physically went inside the tank and it is sealed inside the tank. Just half as strong unless the chip is filled/fixed. Lately, Tenecor seems to be very bad with their customer service so my chances of getting this tank replaced seems rather slim. I think i deserve to get this tank replaced after waiting 13.5 weeks after payment. I guess we will see what happens but so far no response. Question is, worst come to worst, is the chip going to spread like glass. Can the tank be fixed? I dont have the experience repairing acrylic so I would like some honest answers. If i have to sell this tank and order a new one from a DIFFERENT manufacturer, I would rather do that, than to risk 300 gallons of water on my floor. Your experience/input would be greatly appreciated!

I've had good experience with Tenecor before so i ordered with them again. Besides this chip, the tank is in good condition. The chip cannot be due to shipping because the entire corner is not cracked/chipped. I think its due to lack of quality control. Builder may have dropped the acrylic after cutting it or did not cut it properly to begin with.

thats super dirty to ship a tank like that

I do know that the threads I have been seeing regarding their customer service have certainly weighed my thoughts as to whether or not some of the bigger tanks I am going to be getting will be coming from them.

The sad part of this story is that you will likely have zero success in getting satisfaction with this. I think it CLEARLY is dangerous to fill, and I would contact them immediately. I would also document everything and notify your credit card company ASAP to begin working through their dispute resolution system. This is a big problem waiting to happen. You have no idea how weak/strong that acrylic is now, and it looks to be 1/2" - is that right? I would be pretty hesitant about the bowing factor already, but this will be even more stress on that corner.

it sucks because that is a beautiful tank

From my experiences that chip happened before shipping. But yes i would do all i could to get them to make it right before doing anything with the tank.

A crack like that probably won't run.

Has the tank been flame polished? I'm not sure how Tenecorhe manufactures their tanks. If it's *NOT* flame polished i would clean the chip with rubbing alcohol then get some weld-on 4 in there. After that evaporates offs ( 5 mins) i would fill it with Weld-on 16, maybe thin it a little with the 4 first and let that fully cure 24 hrs and then it's going to be as good as it gets.

I would try to contact them in every forum and if they don't answer or respond in a timely manner then I would try to find a way to take them to small claims cuz thats bs...

What's the footprint on that tank? I had a 300 gal older Tenecor tank with 1/2 in acrylic......it bowed about an inch.....i sold it because i couldn't sleep at night wondering if it was going to explode.....your tank should at least be 3/4" thick....
