yumyumyum.....all the talk about eatin fish on here lately led me to grab some tilapia at the local market.... $ 0.39 a pound is cheap as hell and i couldnt resist. i brought it home and heated the oven to 420 got out the baking dish put in a tiny dab of extra virgin olive oil......marinated the filets in terriyaki marinade and baked for 11 mins.......to go with that i made some super rice.......you take a can of cream of chicken soup and add a can of water to it...once boiling remove from heat and add a can of rice....cover and let stand for 10 mins.......good stuff. try it.....and along with that i made a little bit of garlic bread.......what a night......hahahah. :naughty:

DAMN thats cheap Tilapia is like 5.00 a Lb at shaws, an 2.50 a Lb at BJs.

tilapia is my favorite fish to eat. along with chilean seabass

Awe man.. you guys are making me hungry and its only 8:50 in the morning and I just had breakfast.

Blackened Chilean Seabass is awesome! There is a restaraunt out here called Louises Trattoria that served that only for special occasions and it's killer.

wow, tilapia is ALWAYS cheap out here. i never see it priced anywhere near your normal fish market type fish, $0.39 is cheaper than normal, but it is never $5 a pound. i think like $0.99 is the normal price sometimes a tad bit higher.....may get more expensive though now that there are more people recognizing that it is a good food fish

Growing up in San Diego we ate fresh seafood all the time. My Dad was a teacher and on his salary it was cheaper to feed a family of 7 by buying a fishing liscense than to shop at the market all the time. It was also FUN to dive/fish! We ate abalone, baracuda, scallops cut from bat ray wings, bass, lobster, abalone, shark, corbina, grunion, bonita, halibut, sheepshead, dorado, abalone, albacore...
Inland: bass, catfish, trout, crawdads.
Salton Sea: orange mouth corbina, TILAPIA.
When I moved to the mountains the only thing I missed though was fresh seafood. Finally someone started a sefood market and I MUST have it once in a while.

hahaha i fish ALL the time down off of point loma. all the fish you mention are good eatin by the way.....sheepshead yummmmmmmmmmmy, havent ate that in a long long time. i catch lobsters off of shelter island quite often as well and i live within walking distance of Lake Jennings and about 5 mins from 3 other lakes...guess thats why my town is called Lakeside hahahah.......i fish fairly regularly all year at one place or another. and TRUST you just keep this **** rockin bro. i sign on and now i got a new avatar and my pics are posted....all without ever having to ask...MFK ROCKS :headbang2

oh yeah and i never ate any grunion...although i do watch them having sex everytime they show up on the shores!!!

Most folks think grunion running is a hoax like snipe hunting. It was great spending all night on the beach performing grunion sexus interuptus and fryin' up for breakfast in the morning! It is true about sex on the beach, though: damned sand gets in everything...

yes it does...ive had many a fun night out at sunset cliffs "playin" on blankets in the sand gettin my buzz on and sand DOES always seem to get everywhere. and if people dont believe the grunion run does happen they just need to come out and live in sd for a year and experience the spawning season for themselves. it is quite a site
