Hey, i just had a look at those fish, bichirs etc. My god they look mental! I'll post pics tonight, look out for them.

The tank is 72"x24"x18" that is plenty of room?

Cheers for everything, maybe chat to you a bit later.

Just seriously keep a backup plan for that Texas. I know the one I have doesn't tolerate anything with him no matter what size tank. Each individual is different so maybe you'll be lucky. Also, if you decide on a green terror, the one I had was a true terror. He started out fine with the JD and 2 oscars with him, but as he grew he became more aggressive and eventually killed 2 of them off. The other I removed in time.

You have enough room to play with, I had a green texas in a 4 footer who was fine with 3 other aggresive CAs till it hit around 4"-5". He started to get real aggressive, so I took him out. It will take months for all your fish to get to a decent size. I would see how everyone grows together. I have a true parrot, roktiel severum, sveni pike, Nic, and EBJD togther and everyone is around 4"-5" doing fine together for past 8 months. But that could change when they get even bigger.

so what size is the tank? you said in your first post its a 112g tank, others you've said 72x18x24 and 72x24x18 all of which would me a difference in tank volume, even though the last two sizes are 135g dimensions, the 24width provides quite a bit extra room on the footprint. if it is a 72x18x24 or the 24width, you stock is pretty good. i have 2 severums, a pike, a psittacus, a dat, flagtail and 6 bichirs in my 125g. there is the occasional chasing but no lip locking at all. watch out when you have a pair, that could cause problems.

if you're willing to restock but keep the severum id say this stock
1x sev
6x Geophagus OH
1x psittacus or chocolate cichlid

Thanks for the posts guys. Sorry HiImSean, i mean 72" long 24" deep, 18" wide. I don't think i'm doing to bad with my stock. I think i'm gonna get rid of the all Geo's, before they get too big and become harder to sell.

At minute i have guy who wants to sell me, 1x 5-6" Green Severum & 10" Common Plec. This will give me some impact, then i think either EBJD/JD and then something a touch smaller to give general interest and colour, Salvini?

I'm on another thread looking at using LEDs, then i could ditch the Luminarie which i'm i'm sell to fund the new fish and LEDs. Any ideas on price for a 5ft light with new blubs? I'm thinking £100 maybe?

Sean, i like your list. Just finding some of these species in the U.K is pain and it can be easier to stick more common names. I'm gonna post pics tonight so you can all the state of the tank just now. NO LAUGHING!

For my 2 cents, this isn't an ideal stocking. Lots of fish that will get fairly large and or aggressive as they mature. The Sev and Braziliensis might get along well enough but they are quite aggressive and get pretty big. If you do have a male and female they will spawn at some point and could be a disaster. Though they won't do it for a little while since they aren't sexually mature untill around 3-4". Texas are generally quite aggressive too. they tend to max out around 8-10" and are all attitude from my experience with them. Firemouths are pretty fiesty themselves and can be little trouble makers but are not generally too bad aggression wise. The issue in my mind with them is if the Tex and FM are of opposite sexes. These two species can interbreed/hybridize readily which can lead to some serious trouble for their tankmates. Depending on his personality , Sevs are a good all around SA. Generally easy going but with enough attitude to hold their own. Depending on type they can max out at close to 12" with 10" being more common. Your Geophagus sp. will find themselves caught in the middle of a bunch of territorial cichlids and get pummeled constantly .

For tanks this size I normally suggest either species tanks of a few more moderate sized cichlids of the same type , or communities of smaller less aggressive species. Sticking with centrals or south American does help interms of stocking since many centrals are more aggressive than their SA relatives.

Okay, thanks for that so really i need to clear out and maybe just go with Sevs and then smaller species to fill. Oh, heres is a pick of the two Geo Bra, this is the pic the seller sent me.
