The government or Monsanto Corporation?

Thank the government (i.e. taxpayer and your local Congressman) for ensuring that US agriculture is subsidizes enough to stay afloat.

Matt

what's scary is how much of our food crops can no longer be reproduced via using their own seed anymore.
All this "Progress" is more about Govt control than production yield. one snap of the fingers and none of those farmers can even grow ANYthing next year.
Think about that and ask if how comfortable you feel.

...............

As I'm sure you know, beef need to be fed. Aren't most cows fed corn...and likely GM corn? And corn that's cultivated using herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer and all other chemicals that boost yield?

Matt
IF the BLM would stop forcing ranchers off using Govt grazing permits so that WE can pay to support wild useless horses to "run free", and then we pay to their employees to round some up, so WE pay to then feed them on alfalfa for the rest of their lives because they are not ridable or useful in ANY way......... IF we could return to what used to work CHEAPLY, then we could eat the organic beef which used to flow throughout the market in huge amounts.
but that would be too much common sense.

I simply stated that test-tube beef has the potential to reduce the environmental impact of meat production, which IS a major cause of environmental destruction, whether you believe the UN report I posted is "cherry picking" or not...

And where is the proof that the beef are fed with GM corn? I hope you are aware the fact that I called you out on the knowledge on the cattle industry which you know NOTHING about? As I said before, not all cattle industry used corn to fatten up the slaughter cattle and only slaughter beef cattle are fed with corn for a month before the slaughter date.

You keeps claiming that meat production is a major issue to the environment destruction yet there are more issues that caused more harmful to the environment. Good thing is that U.S regulations will never allow this test-tube beef to become a food product.

Matt, you are just plain & flat out annoying.
you only spout text * classroom crap that you have never seen firsthand & you know nothing about the cattle or food industry.
Please shut up. and go away.

Maybe us farmers and ranchers need to take a year (or three) off from farming and ranching then come back and see how our world are doing.

Do you even KNOW that the govt has been using wild horses as pawns for decades now? they have taken away cattle permits so that, instead, wild gorses can roam. the excess numbers are removed and paid for by us. (to be fed, housed & and managed)
Horses consume several times as many acres of grass to live than cows, and do NOTHING but cost us $$ to support.
It is NOT a question of whether or not the land is supporting anything, it is a matter of WHAT it supports.
Food? or a constant taxpayer drain of non-consumable hoofed animals.
because guess what? if it isn't grazed, IT BURNSssssssssssssssssssssssssss.

No...I don't think you ought to do that.

Vegetarians would make nice lean, nasty tasting ground patties.
Recycle.

80% of U.S. corn is grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds.

93% of U.S. soy is grown from Monsanto patented GMO seeds.

I don't necessarily think that Monsanto's near monopoly is a good thing, but it just shows you the pervasiveness of GMO corn and soy in our country.

What specific regulations do you believe would keep the test-tube beef off of the US market?
