I think I just got a crappy bag.

I know with pool filter sand if you get a bag at the start or end of the production you can get some odds bits and pieces in there, I figure its the same with this more or less. I'd bring a knife and cut it open at the store before I buy it again though.

I got a bag of 20/40 a little while ago an it was full of glass sticks.... I didn't use it.

Odd I didn't get any glass in my batch. But yes clean it well for it leaves an oily residue.

Fluorite, Caribsea and Petco sand.

My Petco sand floated into little balls... I don't have much luck with black sand, lol.

3m Quartz but discontinued. I think there is also Spectraquartz. Not sure if it's still around.

I am pretty sure Spectraquartz bought out 3Ms sand line. Their website isn't that helpful, but I think I read on the plantedtank.net that someone called them and was told where they can buy the product. Its used to color pool surfaces and what not.

A buddy of mine looked the black diamond sand up and it said it was coal slag that doesn't sound good lol im still gonna try and get a few bags tomorrow gonna try it out in my 55 before i set my 150 up
