Tetracycline useless in 8.0ph?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Alrighty, just served up a 50% water change and added my last carbon pack. I hope I can start this treatment soon as the fin rot has exposed a fin spine. :(

He looks tore up. I'm going to do another 50% water change. I hope the water looks safe to treat after that.

I see his fins but honestly I was picturing worse. After this next water change you'll be good to go with the sulfa. I think the sulfa will do the job, just follow the instructions is important. Good luck and keep us updated I'm vested in his recovery.

This is the worse any of my fish have ever been (aside from getting beat up by another fish) so I may have exaggerated? I'm actually filling up a 36 gallon to get to room temp(heater has been unplugged) for this water change. I'm sure that's at least a 60-70% wc.

Thanks for your help, support and investment.

I changed 36 gallons at once and did another 10 gallon water change right after that. I let the aquarium sit with the carbon for an hour afterwards and now the tank is crystal and not a visible trace of tetracycline. It is time to start!
