Just picked up a 4-5" teugelsi from our local fish store, less than 48 hours ago. Some of their fish tend to be finicky so I waited a month before buying this guy and he seemed to be fine. Well, today he's just been up near the heater(that gets really hot!) Or by the outtake of my filter and just acting sluggish and lethargic.

The tank is a 60 gallon

Temperature range of 78-80°F

Haven't checked the pH recently but it was in 7.5 to 8 range

Current stocking is:
5-6" electric blue acara
2 1-2" Texas cichlids ( don't worry they're just grow outs that will be moved).
And 1 Senegalus bichir that is slightly bigger than the teugelsi.

I haven't seen any fin nipping or bullying.

Also they're are plenty of hides large and small (and I mean plenty)

The Senegalus sort of acted like this when I first got him but I don't think it was this bad.

Any suggestions would help... This guy wasn't cheap.

Okay I'll take your word for it and see how things go I guess it's just because I have a lot invested into this guy (emotionally and monetarily).

yeah I wouldn't worry about it. Polys are just strange, especially when they're first introduced. And my Teug is among the strangest of my collection. Plus, the Poly section has a few threads where people just share strange things their polys do. It's one of the cool things about the genus

Lol that actually made me laugh but, thats good to hear. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for giving me a little peace of mind guys

Guys, I got him to eat this morning and a good bit at that. I put more in than usual expecting if i put a decent amount in he was bound to find something ( The EBA is a pig and so is the senegalus) but luckily all of the pellets went to his side and he ate like 3-4 medium pellets with no problem.

Which is odd because it usually take the senegalus a few minute to eat one and the teugelsi just chewed it for a second and poof it was down his throat.
