Probably the Poly section
I have a 15 gallon setup in my stand that i use to breed mollies and guppies to feed my bigger monsters in the main tank and was wondering if it would be okay to put some baby polys in it to grow out until they are big enough to play with my dels and ornate. one of the stores around me has 2x 1.5" teugelsi that ive been wanting to pick up. could i put them in the tank to grow out? its kept around 78º F and i run a powerhead driven sponge filter on it. tank is bare for the most part with a few small ornaments for the baby guppies to hide in from the adult mollies and i use the tank to soak smaller pieces of driftwood before putting them in the main tank so theyll sink easier.

okay. any idea on a growth rate for one in a setup like that? it would probably need to hit the 3.5-4" mark before it could make it in the big tank. i had an army of dwarf kuhli's from when i had my rainbowfish to help turn up the sand and clean around the plant roots, and my knife and delhezi's have taken out most of them. the flounder might have snatched a few too, hard to tell. i just know i went from seeing at least 7-8 digging in the plant roots and rock piles normally to now rarely finding 1-2 when i go looking for them.

thats okay. the whole point of this tank is to produce feeders. wont be a loss if some get eaten prior to going in the big tank haha. well i now have a Teugelsi and an "Unknown" in there as growouts, just got back from the store. Thinking the other one is a baby delhezi but they werent sure at the store. They really know nothing about polys at this store.

I'm sure if you post a pic of your unkown poly someone here will be able to ID it for you. Besides, you know how we all love pictures. ;)

I'm quite interested in hearing your experiences with your new teugelsi as well. I recently picked my first one up and am not sure what to expect in terms of growth rate per se. I believe they are a fairly typical upper jaw behavior wise.

The teug I had was about 2". It grew to 13-14" a little over a year. It was such a skinny fella in the beginning. Hikari gold and tilapia was diet. Housed with mostly lower jaws, and ate moderately.

I'll try and get some pics when I get home. The feeder tank has pretty tinted water from conditioning my driftwood in it, never an issue for the feeders and i dont think the baby polys will mind a slight tint
