From my expiriences with texas/carpintis, they all grow pretty fast and are very aggressive. my first male bred with a convict and got too aggressive for my tank and sold him a coiple years ago. I bought some Escondido's from Rapps this last fall and ended up with a pair. the female was larger than the male so i used a divider till he was the same size. when i pulled it they bred instantly. then a couple weeks later he killed the female. they were about 4" then. now he's 6.5" and in a 180gal with two female red devils 5.5", male dovii 6", male Umbee 6". He has got both female devils on opposite sides of the tank with eggs and is the king of the tank. im waiting for my dovii and umbee to outgrow him so they can throw a lil payback till i move them to their own tank. Heres a pic of my esco with the larger female.
