congrats brother

Thanks. The fish did all the hard work I just made sure they were well taken care of as I observed (sometimes in total confusion lol)
Seems spawning with this pair has to be on her terms. The male is probably too easy going for things to be his way. I love these 2 fish hope to have some exciting fry.

I'd add the sponges, or a sponges prefilter if you are worried about it. I had Emperor 400 filter on my tank and she showed the babies how to swim around the intake areas, I was surpised and not one was sucked up. It's going to take them awhile to get to a half inch size which is when I would consider separating them, and you may need to cull some off and some will probably pass too, I wouldn't worry about a 40 being too small.

I will add sponge prefilters for sure. I probably won't cull any until the majority reach 1" leaving it up to natural selection until then. I will however be on the lookout for any that show any different body shape etc (fingers crossed).

wow id be really excited, the father is beautiful! iv only seen one picture of this hybrid and i dont think it did it justice so i have subscribed to this to see how you get on! what i great xmas prezzie for you :-)

I should hopefully get a few that fade but if not that's ok its just the first step in my breeding plan
The fry should be nice.

Thought I should add some pictures of the texas. I think his base color / fin color and pearl spacing will prove to be valuable traits. Anybody else think so?

Don't pay attention to the dirty glass or the poo.
