that link http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/cichlid/texas.php looks to me what i have order as cuban cichlids http://www.google.ca/imgres?hl=en&s...55&start=18&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:6,s:18,i:124 i could be wrong but i have always carpintis with texas
Yeah no, that's definitely not a Herichthys. Dunno if it really is a cuban tho coz I don't really know what a cuban looks like.
As for the debate on carpintis vs. texas.....texas is a common name for all texas cichlids. Thats like saying you can't call a Ranchu a Goldfish because its a Ranchu....its still a goldfish. Just my $.02
That's not relevant... that case goldfish really is a designation for all subspecies of goldfish so it'd make sense. Like how both the texas and green texas are CA cichlids. CA cichlids are a designation they both share, much like 'goldfish'.
In this case, if you read the links and talk to those who owns and specializes in Herichthys, you'll realize that texas is a designation for H. cyanoguttatum specifically, and green texas is a designation for H. carpintis specifically. It's the same as with say, the spiny lobsters and lobsters. Just because spiny lobster has 'lobster' in its name doesn't actually make it a lobster. No, they're different.
Back to topic,
Jared, are you thinking of going just Kirins now? Or still planning to hybrid?
