So I recently got what I thought was a Green Terror juvie. I had some lingering doubts after I brought it home and saw it's true colors showing more and after I recently started a thread and posted this pic, some members are saying it's not a GT but a Texas. So what do you all think?

It's a Texas my friend, interesting fish. I've kept several though never to full size yet. The ones I've had have snapped once they reach about 5 inches... I do keep aggressive community tanks though.

ya, either Texas or Green Texas....still trying to learn the difference myself between carpintis and cyannoguttatus so I can't tell you which

Looks like carpintis to me.cyannoguttatus has much smaller spots.
so Lowland a.k.a Pearl-scaled a.k.a. Green Texas is your vote? Is the size of the spots the only way to tell? I saw a "Texas" at a LFS recently, the back half was like black or dark grey while the front half looked just like normal Texas/Lowland profile....big huge abrupt color change for some reason. Never seen it before.

Is that another species of Heterichthys?.....or just a sub-species of carpintis or cyannoguttatus?

It was probably just in breeding dress.they can go through quite dramatic colour changes depending on mood.
