Texas Cichlid tank

Hard to give straight answers when it comes to CA cichlid communities. It is basically a balancing act that you have to get the hang of, and will most likely take a bunch of trial and error. It's pretty unlikely that it will work long-term if you just toss a handful of CA cichlids into a tank. Usually you have to move fish around and let them work out a hierarchy, which still might change.

What I would personally do, is keep the loisellei as the centerpiece fish (largest fish) and keep a group of smaller fish like cryptoheros/amatitlania species with him. The Loisellei will probably not see the smaller guys as threats and won't kill them. Plus you get to have lots of fish, as opposed to three or four.

Ditto to what Dan & GS have stated. If you are dead set on additional, large CA species, then you will almost certainly require a larger tank. IMO a 125 isn't going to be even close to what you will need to pull it off long term.

What about if I don’t do the Texas cichlid tank what tank mates would you reccomend with the loisellei as I definitely want him, I thought about red terrors, Midas, jd, oscar, green terrors I like all of them but suggest any others. Also would 3 large cichlids work in that size tank one including the loisellei and could I have any other tank mates

The Jack Dempsey, Green Terrors and Oscars are very possible, the Red Terror and Midas are not. Regarding those specifically, it is destined to go badly, even if it takes a while, it will. The others that you mentioned would be possible if you started with young fish and if you settled on a single Loisellei, you don't want to risk a breeding pair of Loi's in a Six foot tank with Oscars, JDs, ETC. It would not go well for the other fish.

What size tank was that and was the bio load a lot, it looks like a very interesting tank and also do you think that would work with loisellei
I think it could very well work with Loisellei. If you look down at my message and read my 180 line you can see the filtration that I have.

I have a breeding pair of Escondido green Texas with a starry night cichlid and it works out fine. The starry night is african though

I raised 6 young carpintis from 1 inch to about 3 maybe 4 inches. This was in a 210 gallon tank. The tank had many rocks, caves and line of sight breaks.
As soon as a pair formed it was bedlam.
I would not risk what you want to attempt. The chances of success are extremely slim in my opinion.
Like some of the others have said, I would look at some smaller c/a species.
I don't think the tank is big enough for some of the other species mentioned either.
I would look more at cryptohero's, or thorichthys sized fish if your seeking a community .
