$10 is okay. If seen more and I have seen less. Their temperment in my experience is similiar to green terrors. Usually good in a cichlid community if given enough room. If space is tight then they can be real terds. All in all I would say they are a semi- aggressive cichlid rated below red devils or midas, but slightly above Jack Dempseys in aggression.

I would say that is a great summary of a Tex.

75 would definitely be better. more room for the fish to turn around in. especially for a larger fish like a texas.

55 will be fine. tex will normall top out around 10 inches. A footer is a true brute.

Depends on which fish you are talking about. H. cyanoguttatum will reach 12 inches. I have a male that is 11 inches. H. carpintis probably max out at 10 inches.

Texas here locally in the nw fl panhandle, if they are stocked, usually go for about 10-15$ for 2-3" fish.

I have a Texas that I LOVE!!! The best personality but he's become VERY aggressive lately! He's 10". I also have two 9" Jack Dempsey's and 1 South African in the tank. The Texas is definitely more aggressive than the JD's. I have 4 fish in a 135 gallon tank and it's just enough room. I'd NEVER put those size fish in a smaller tank. My personal opinion but I tend to spoil my babies! Good luck!
