Doesn't look like an "Escondido" to me. The Escondido variant of carpintis have wormy markings along the gill plate.

Nice female carpintis.

Perhaps the carpintis/carpinte thing is what was funny? Not knowing both names are applicable? I, also do not know why both names are correct, but it has never made me "LOL!"......LOL!:ROFL:
