The fish is a carpintis, yes. But you're the crazy one if you think it's the escondido regional morph.

And yeah, carpintis have a very interesting breeding dress.

I just came home yesterday and their she was looking way different.

My regular and escondido carpintis would have some very fast changing breeding dress when they were threatened. From the mostly black/dark color to almost a bleached white in the matter of 1-2 secs.
 
My late texas would flip that blueish purple hue to that bleached white and dark purple in seconds too...it would stay that way when he was in breeding mode.
 
So what is the diff between Carpinte and Carpintis if any???

Same thing...Singular versus plural maybe, but same thing.
 
Not going to get involved in an argument here, but that is one stunning fish in her breeeding colours.
