If you breed a Midas and Citrinellus together do you get a flowerhorn? No you get a red devil mutt, I happen to have a Texas cichlid mutt, comprende Elvis?:WHOA:

The point he is trying to make is that all hybrids are not flowerhorns.

ok... so what is a flower horn but a hybrid???? kinda like the hybrid you made......! tu es no loco tu es confrontational...o.

A RDxTexas is not a flowerhorn, just like a RDxCon is not a Flowerhorn. Is a Blood Parrot a flowerhorn? No, is it a hybrid? Yes. Both of you need to take a :chillpill:

who is to say what a true flowerhorn is?? do you know the two true originals? or when you get a flowerhorn do you know how many fish it consists of? no a flowerhorn is a general way of saying...hybrid!

So.............. According to you my Labiatum x Citrinellum is a Flowerhorn. Mmmmmmmmmm..............:nilly:

No. It isn't, that's the whole point. If two different species hybridise, this does not automaticly class them as a Fh, just simply a hybrid.. As for which two species actually do make up a Fh, i couldn't care less.

than you are just ignorant to the fact of what a flowerhorn is! its just a pretty hybrid with a label that makes money. any hybrid with a big nuchal hump and a nice pattern could be a flowerhorn who are you to say the arent when in fact you dont know what a true flowerhorn is or if a true flowerhorn truely exists.

You are correct. I generally do ignore anything to do with them. What exactly is your agender here?

If you would like other's opinions on the matter, then start a thread in the hybrid forum and not in someone else's thread. The reason it exists is so not to start argument's with the purist's here.

My apologies to the thread owner.

absolutly not you had no problem putting in your opinion. this is the thread that caused the topic so this is where it will stay. agenda?? im not starting an argument but making a valid point. this is what i like to call a debate and if it offends the o.p. than i apoligize but you made a post that made a damn good debate.

You're right, not many know the origins of a flowerhorn, but I can guarantee you it isn't a simple F0 cross. The most obvious contributor of FH is the Trimac. No one will deny this. But it isn't just Trimac x RD cross. It is more complicated. If you want to say FH is a way of saying Trimac Hybrid, then, I might stand behind you. But FH as a generic way of saying just any hybrid? No.
