could b one of the gymnothorax species but I think it looks rutulius. Head shape is a dead give away
glyptothorax my mistake....close enough lol...check them out awesome, some of the glypto's look almost exactly like a goonch.
Damn! Some of them do. I prefer the real goonches more though. The Glyptothorax buchanani looks pretty cool though!

Goonch are essentially giant glyptos. They are extremely closely related.
Looking at the head on this guy is the main thing that makes me think that it is NOT a rutilus. Rutilus has a straight to slightly curved head when viewed in profile. This guy has a sharp ventral curve to the snout immediately anterior to the nostrils. A rutilus wouldn't have that.
The colors are also somewhat off as well. Rutis have that orange yellow coloration that we know so well. I suspect the dwarves have a more tan color.
I have pics to illustrate what I'm thinking, I'll post them when I'm on my PC later.

The thought had crossed my mind. If it is I need it to further my research. I'd like to personally watch this specimin. I have more grow out tanks than I know what to do with.

well suspicion got the best of me, got ahold of my buddy rapps and asked if he had any more, i got his last one,went and got it today,looks completely different! this one has more yellow base colo,wider flater heat, bigger broader fins, so im thinking this new one is a ruti? or whats the deal?
