Just stunning specimens you have.
Here are 2 of mine that came from Thailand. The first one I still have. Thailand is the place to search for these beauties.
The difference between a Thai GT, and a pure bred carpintis is negligible (except for kok) they are almost identical...dial92 the pure texas with kok you posted is not carpintis, it's cyanguttatus, which are more known for kok.
Pure bred GT's (Herichthys carpintis) always have pearling right up to the mouth & over the head, never saw one that didn't. As someone has already pointed out, one other difference is that thai GT are hybrids, a by product of breeding for RT. I can see that some of you disagree with that, I'm not here to argue, fact's are facts, what you choose to believe is irrelevant to me.
I must agree with an earlier post, why even bother spending hundreds on a Thai GT? Despite what some may believe, a hybrid Thai GT does not have better or more pearling, than any locale specific carpintis on the market, escondido, vontehillo, rio hondo, etc. Google them & see for yourself.
+1 Never saw a pure GT with a kok like that. Seems to me I used to hear the name "super green texas" in reference to GT like riftrafts...but that was a long time ago.I like riftraft's GT. He is a good example with the nice size nuchal and pearls on it..
The pure Carpintis will grow pearls on their head and some reach to the mouth as pure breeds. . They dont need to be Thai GTs to have that but they dont get the water head like Riftrafts' GT. I think individual's like him should be called super GT instead of Thai GT. Because other Thai GTs arent all like him
