This is a young (female?) Thai-Silk Flowerhorn I got on Aquabid.

She is darker than most because she has adapted to the black background and black sand bottom.

I would eventually like to breed her to a male EBJD when I find a good one of comparable size. Then I will breed the F1 siblings together to see what I get with the hopes of getting the Sapphire blue of the EBJD into the new hybrid instead of the Metallic Cyan blue of the Thai-Silk Flowerhorn.

I will keep you posted.

I just ordered the male EBJDs from "AMAZING_BETTA" as potential mates for the above Thai-Silk Flowerhorn. I ordered three so she could have her choice. I will resell the other two locally in a year or so when she has chosen. I am posting a picture with a description of my intentions which are basically to get the "Sapphire Blue" color of an EBJD into the Flowerhorn line. I chose the Thai-Silk because it's "Cyan Blue" color has nearly 100% coverage already. Then I will select fish that also display the EB gene visually in the second generation and future generations as I breed back the taller shape and hump size of the flowerhorn.

I am "Fishing" for names for the new variety I intend to create. Any good ideas?!?!? List possible variety names in this thread please... (and thanks in advance)

That Thai silk looks weird. Usually you can't see individual scales more a flush look and don't have a green tint to them like that one... but still looks nice

I need to spark up my fish life

if you going to breed the fry when they get older, dont breed the siblings to another sibling because then you have have F'd up babies._____________________if they do breed...you take a female from they fry and breed it back to the father or male to mother. the gene will be stronger.... good luck

She does not have bloat. She just ate a meal of live fruit flies. I don't see the stringy white poops you mentioned. I just now looked at her and there are none. She does look a bit greener than most Thai-Silks in those photos. IN person she looks bluer. More cyan. The dark scalloping of each scale seems to be a reaction to the all black background and black sand bottom. I will be changing out the black sand for white sand soon. Her dark environment does tend to make them darker. I can't do much about the painted back of the tank at the moment. Too much work. I did just get the juvi EBJDs in the mail. From 'Amazing_Betta'. I am pleased with the quality. No visible defects. They are about 2" long and eating well. One actually appears to be a female. If she is, that pretty rare for a visusal EBJD female to survive past the fry stage from what I understand.

I will keep everyone updated, and with photos in THIS thread!!
