HONORURU, HAWAII!
Hello all,

My name is Nigel and im from Honolulu, HI.
I have a THai Silk flowerhorn that has been very healthy lately.
However, i was inspecting it very closely, and noticed that at the base of his anal fin, some spots seem to be red and swollen, and also there are 2 very small (maybe 0.5mm) spots on the left side of his tail that kind of look fuzzy.

of course im thinking its getting fungus. Maybe caused by leftover sumo pellets.

i began a treatment program of pimafix or whatever. 5ml per 10gal.
i have used 2 doses so far, and plan to continue for 5 more doses as the container recommends.

anything else i should try? add some rock salt maybe?

fish is behaving perfectly normal, MAYBE a SLIIIIIIIGHT loss of appetite but aggression is all still there etc.

thanks for any input!
nigel

pics would help ALOT to tell what it is

k well my descriptions were sufficient enough for my teenage sister who is NOT a fishkeeper to understand.

pics wont do any justice with my blackberry, specially with the affected areas being so small. im not about to take my fish out of the water either...

but yeah, it doesnt get much simpler than 0.5mm fuzzy spots. one right on top of the other.

*font size bigger* : <---there, like that picture?

...as for the reddening/swelling...its not on the fin itself, but on the base where the fin grows out of.

again, no pics at the moment. but im pretty sure its fungus.
(look at your pimafix bottle, and you'll see what i see)

thanks.

GOOD POINT!
not to come off as an arse...but just wanting *input*, without "this thread is useless without pics" being said from everyone...so my apologies if thats how it came off as.

even a "yup, its fungus" is more helpful than "need pics", yenno?

am i on a good path in my course of action?
anything else to look out for?

i guess i made this thread as a feeler/helper for myself.
my fish isnt a swimming cotton ball (yet lol) so i decided to cover all my bases, (starting treatment, making the thread etc)

then my fellow forummers are supposed to be there for me and give input and feedback. :)

hard day at work too. grrr

Treat it as what you think it is. And keep a close eye on it while treating it, all I can say at this point and good luck hope your fish gets well. :D

thanks very much for the kind wishes. To be honest the two spots ive been trying to describe have kind of faded away, and the redness has also seemed to be less visible... i plan to continue with this first cycle of treatment, change the water as recommended and then see from there.

i just lost my arowana last night, so seeing progress while treating the FH puts me at ease a little.
