Thank you Lowes"

Looks like someone's a Dewalt fan..... lol. All that yellow would make me uncomfortable....

Is there a router there I'm missing? (gray case next to compressor?) Would definetly be one of the first tools I'd pick up for a build like this.

How much room do you have to work with?

As far as a shape, it seemed to me that my rays enjoyed rectangle over square. Easier for them to establish boundries and seems like they really enjoy going from one end of the tank to the other. Seemed in a square they were much less active. Could have just been my rays though.

Think a head to seperating your rays in the event of breeding, fighting, food intake observation or whatever reason, and how you will acomplish this. All of a sudden a long rectangle tank sounds a lot more appealing. Will be wise to address how to hold dividers and how to secure air lines and diffusers during the build to rather then after. Also is VERY handy to always have options to expand. IF you only need a pair of 2 inch drains then install 3" or (4) 2"ers and plug them. Overbuild by building for double what you ever think you'll need. Put drains everywhere you think bio crud will build up. You'll be glad you did. I'd also want huge drains plummed to the sewer so the only restriction as far as how fast you can do waterchanges is how fast your sewer will take it.

What are you planning on for filtration?

I have a full finished basement, I can use as much as I want!

And yes the tall black case on the left window edge is a 3 base router set, it's the best one Dewalt make as the rest of the tools as well, I could never cheat myself over a few bucks, "if ya do something" do it right the first time ;)

Filtration will be a drop, along with multiple 2-4 fx5's

do NOT use fx5's on a ray tank.they are plain junk. you need a moving bed filter using plastic media in an oxygen rich sump.most common media is kaldnes k1,k3 and the bio-chips.the cost will be alittle more but in the end you will be much happier. simply put some bulkheads at the top of your tank at the desired water level, letting them overflow (thru piping)into some socks, then thru the bio chamber and then to your return pump and possible pump thru a uv if you want a uv.( i suggest one).MUCH better than any canister filter.

OH Man Nice pick up on the tools FWWWEWWWWW!!!!:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2

Thanks for your input"

I've been keeping rays and breeding discus for almost 10 years and since the fx5 came out I have always used and loved this filter with not a single complaint or issue

But thank you for your concerns, I appreciate all and any from everyone.

I will take your comments into consideration, I'm sure that way works great as well, for me fresh drip movement power filter "FX5" and some type of wet/dry trickle always works best for me
