Thank you Lowes"

Sounds like you're going to do it up right... this is gonna be awesome!

I always thought if I was going to do a DIY in my basement (which I don't have in this house) I would pretty much do what Blacktip did for his shark tank. If you haven't seen that, check out the articles section. He did the plywood/fiberglassed coated with a sealer and it looked like it would hold up really well over time.

I'd suggest checking out Rich's (VLDesign) threads.....

He built a giant ply tank, then ripped it apart to move. He found flaws in his that could be very usefull to someone building a monster of this magnitude.

Fiberglass resin with matting in the joints then use sweetwater epoxy over the top. I did 2 layers of matting in the joints and 3 coats of resin on the flat then 2 coats of epoxy on top for sides. I did 4 coats resin and 3 coats epoxy on the bottom.

i rely hate my acryilic tanks. rays just scratch the crap out of them, and actually bite it

when im ready to do a big build im gonna do a large concrete like u would see at a zoo with glass windows. my dream size is somewhere around 12'x6'x4'

go glass front but opti white then you dont get that nasty green tint like with normall glass

opti white is as clear as acrylic

i just used a opti white front glass as the rest of my tank is covered with background so no need for opti white on the other panels

opti white is about 20% more expencive than normal glass

i would go 3ft deep as it gives a large male ray more room to flip a female
