Yeah, I was worries about that. But the suction isn't strong at all, they swim by it regularly, lol. It can hardly hang onto a dead leaf.

But now I have 5 mini doviis and 6 mini motas in my tank. :nilly:

I'll be sure to post update pics. I dropped a cube of frozen BBS in the tank and they all ate some, fat little tummies now.:D Too bad my sis took the cam.
 
I would keep them apart, because you usually find one species of fry dominate the other.
I have once kept fry together and ended up all being 1 species.

So if you want much better survival rate, seporate them.

Just woundering are those breathable bags?
 
Yeah, they're breathable bags.

The dovii are significantly smaller than the motas right now. The two dominant motas, the largest ones, hang out on the right side of the tank. The dovii and smaller motas kind of mix together and look for food together. Only aggression I've seen is between the larger motas and the smaller motas, they kinda ignore the dovii for now and likewise with the dovii, they don't bother the motas. Hopefully that won't be subject to change any time soon. :D

WTF..... time to either clean out your filter or get a new one! Probably not enough water turn over if it's not sucking up water fast enough. Ewok is right.... I'd put a sponge over the grill regardless and separate the batch.

BTW, I packed 6 Dovii and 6 Motas! Guess one didn't make it...... :(

Sorry dude.... it was in the buy/sell section. All out right now but in less than 2 months there should be 100+ available. The Dovii's were complimentary but the RTM's were pretty cheap..... 5 for $20. Shipping was approx. $25 and they did fine after 2 days of travel! Obviously. :grinno:

Lol, it's cause it has a lot of dead plant matter surrounding the suction area, I just cleaned the filter last week, and the stocking in the tank was never heavy. Guess the plants work well enough as a intake cover. But I'll get a sponge wrap and put it around it, or one of those fry guard things. Also thinking of adding a sponge filter to the tank.

But, I think there may be 6 dovii, cause I was counting them earlier and I kept coming up with a count of 5 and 6, I just decided to go with the lower number just to be safe, lol. But there were no dead fish in either of the bags. They were actually all swimming at me like they wanted some food.:D

But yeah, that filter that I have running, has been running for 4 years, ever since I moved into this house. It's handled lots of inhabitants and a really overstocked tank, so its power has probably worn down a bit. Might need to change the thing that sucks in water.:nilly:
