I swear I measured out of the water on measuring tape and he's almost 10", and a good 3"+ tall, but he just comes out looking small and slender in pictures. I want to take him to over 12"...

The parents of these fish were collected by Willem Heijns in Lake Xiloa, brought back to Europe, bred, offspring were sent to Rusty Wessel, who sent them to Mojo, who dropped them off with Rapps to ship to me out on the west coast! They have traveled more than I have...

great fish and shots!!

Very beautiful fish and photos...nice work bringing your male festae back to health, he is gorgeous! Your tankscaping skills are top notch as well...wish I could do something like that to a couple of my tanks. By the way do you two play COD on PS3 or XBox?

So after everyone had settled, a few days later I dropped the big guy in and held my breath, net and divider in hand.

She immediately swam over to him from the other side of the tank and started coloring up and displaying, and he started showing off as well.

Surprisingly, they seemed to bond immediately and she has rarely left his side.

Man, they all look great, tanks included! Those Jags have a very interesting history. Real nice save with the male Festae too. I hope you decide to keep the Festae pair. You definitely know how to keep cichlids in excellent care.

Great shots and fish!

How do you have the ferns growing on the tank with the festae? Really cool.

What did you use to treat the male festae's internal parasites? Was he eating?

Matt

Thanks. It's a fake vine fern thing. The thing that seemed to clear him up and get him eating was a few rounds of Clout--harsh med I'm hesitant to recommend, but effective. When he started eating I put Epsom salt in his food.
