The $110 LED Upgrade for my 150!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
WOW LOOKS GOOD! Is it a 6 foot tank? If i did this for my 240 8x2x2 how many would you suggest for good coverage. Right now I have 2 dual t12 vho fixture pushing 440 watts. I love the amount of light it is and how much it lights the tank just not happy with the cost, and the HO t-12 lights are hard to find and cost a arm in the leg. here is a picture with the current lighting set up.

I like it better. Like Danger_Chicken said in the thread I thanked in the beginning...this is not "Stadium Lighting" for a baseball game....it's WAY more natural...i spaced the ends in from each side a little for a dark area. I suggest you read the ENTIRE thread I referenced in the beginning of this thread. It's very informative.

Awesome tank. I think 6 would do the trick. Read the thread I thanke din beginning of post. Danger_Chicken iis the MAN! PM him with questions. He answered a BNUNCH for me!

Nice! How would you say the light output is compared to the original T8's?

Probably not as "bright" but more "natural" with the metal halide ripple and shadows on the bottom

your fish would like the LED better, plus you can make ends dark. your tank is lit up like a stadium for a night game. for plants or a reef fine. and YOU make like it. your cichlids dont.

You shoulda mentioned that in the first post! :D

Looks great. Maybe I'll get some for my 125...

Yeah I know but it was late and I wasn't sure how far i was going to go. if you get them ask a a deal 4 for $100 or $110 and make sure you get white, not yellow. you love them!

I can't take credit for wiring in the new lights....that goes to my good friend Bill Anderson....he's like Spiccoli's Dad...he has the ultimate set of tools and can fix anything!!!!
