Very nice! How deep is your canopy??

Canopy is EXActly 5" DEEP. Lights with mounting bracket straight up are
and 1/8". Plenty of room to spare. I can actually swing each forward or back. it makes a different effect on the water. so happy!

meant to say lights are 4 1/8" with bracket straight up.

The lights look really good. LED really bridges the gap between bright enough light and a true natural look. My only critique is the spectrum. The coral designed lights mix blue and white 3 to 1. The added spectrum really makes the fish's colors pop! I do wish i had built my canopy taller. i have but 2.5 inches of space between the lid and the glass......not nearly enough room for most lights.

I agree not sure how this would do on a reef or planted tank....but I don't have a reef or a planted tank! I love these lights and they were cheap!

I wish I could compare the spotlights side by side! i bet the light intensity would grow plants....not corals.
I really like the way the blue spectrum lights up the fish. My frontosa looks like its glowing sometimes! Had I known about these lights three months ago i might have built a different canopy!

thanks so much for posting this. I have two of these lights coming to me for my 120 gal. tank. I have wild discus so I want a dimmer tank. they look great on your tank.

You might want a 3rd or 4th. It's personal taste though. You'll know soon enough. Enjoy!

I've found a 24" deep tank needs one 10w every foot, but like you said it's personal taste. The nice thing is if two isn't enough you can always get more.

With two, If you can mount them 4-5" above the tank you should get a nice even spread without the dark areas at the top.

Joeygee - it's scary how much our tanks are aquascaped a like. I'd never seen you tank and just redid mine over the past two weeks. This is a 30" deep 220 with three 30w's

Sweet! Glad to see more folks jumping on the LED bandwagon. But I gotta give the credit to Arttyfish, I found out about these lights from him.

I actually received the cool whites and didn't like it, seems to wash out the colors of my fish, so I left the warm white on my tank. Looks more natural to me, girlfriend said the same thing.

I'm actually working on a DIY fixture using Cree LEDs for my 190g. I'll be using a mixture of neutral white and warm white LEDs, cool whites aren't my cup of tea :)

WOW LOOKS GOOD! Is it a 6 foot tank? If i did this for my 240 8x2x2 how many would you suggest for good coverage. Right now I have 2 dual t12 vho fixture pushing 440 watts. I love the amount of light it is and how much it lights the tank just not happy with the cost, and the HO t-12 lights are hard to find and cost a arm in the leg. here is a picture with the current lighting set up.
you would need several of the 30w or 50w to get that brightness. The problem is you don't know which or how many you'll need until you buy a few to test out. Your tank looks great with that much light, but I agree with others that the fish probably don't care for it as much as we do :grinno:. If I were you I wouldn't get these lights unless you want to do a low/natural lighting tank. Metal halides will give you that brightness and shimmer but without the electrical and heat reduction. The brightness in this video is dead on for what I see in person, not overexposed like most of my vid's.
