watch the triggers...they'll get big...and nasty.

i love triggers, they are the focal points of my tank. they wont get to big these top out between 8" and 14" with 10" more likly, these are also the least agressive sp. of all triggers. they will go into a bigger tank when they get bigger. i plan to get more of the diff sp. of triggers to get one massive comune of triggers with others.

Very nice tanks.

Just one thing, I'd always be worried about that algae, because it could die and simply release everything it took out of the water. At least if you cleaned most of it out, leaving a few random patches to repopulate, you'd know you were physically removing the phosphates and nitrate from the water.

Then again, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

thanx

i did forget to mention that i do scrape/remove some sections of the algea every week. i think you may have noticed anyways due to the patchyness of the growth. new growth removes more then old growth. i do it in sections as to leave some in their to keep the filtering. i plan to try an algea screen in my sump of the final display to keep the show part clean. thanx for the reminder as if someone were to read this and not see that i do that step it could end badly for them.

Whats on the pinktail's chin? Looks like a white patch of some sort?

if it is the pic i am thinking of(second pic were you can see the nigers mouth). that would be a dried salt water droplet on the outside of the glass. unless you are talking about the scuff that it got when it tried to go through a hole in the rocks that was to small. it is hard to see that mark now.

one thing i was wondering is that the pinktails tail is orange. do they change it to pink during sertain times of the year or if i feed alot of krill will it change more red/pink.

It most likely isn't a time of year thing, but something else.

It could be the age of the fish and as it grows it will mature into the coloration you normally see.
It is possible it just is a variation of color based on where it was collected. There could also be some aggression between tank mates and the pink tail is in its "scared and non-threatening coloration."
Or possibly the fish is unhealthy in some way.
It may be none of these and be because the fish is very new to the tank and is recovering from the transportation.

I don't want to sound redundant as your tank seems to be doing pretty well but monitor your fish very closely. That is a lot of fish and personality within a pretty small space and issues could start to arise at any time.

As far as the algae goes, I would be scraping as much as you can as frequently as possible. The algae will grow even if you scrape your entire tank as it is a product of all the nutrients the fish are producing as waste and you are feeding. The tap water may be contributing some as well depending on quality.

You seem to be doing well so I wouldn't change much, just try to optimize what you have to keep your fish as healthy as possible.
