It could be the age of the fish and as it grows it will mature into the coloration you normally see.
It is possible it just is a variation of color based on where it was collected. There could also be some aggression between tank mates and the pink tail is in its "scared and non-threatening coloration."
Or possibly the fish is unhealthy in some way.
It may be none of these and be because the fish is very new to the tank and is recovering from the transportation.
I don't want to sound redundant as your tank seems to be doing pretty well but monitor your fish very closely. That is a lot of fish and personality within a pretty small space and issues could start to arise at any time.
As far as the algae goes, I would be scraping as much as you can as frequently as possible. The algae will grow even if you scrape your entire tank as it is a product of all the nutrients the fish are producing as waste and you are feeding. The tap water may be contributing some as well depending on quality.
You seem to be doing well so I wouldn't change much, just try to optimize what you have to keep your fish as healthy as possible.

I know a very ornery pink-tailed trigger who is picky about who can stay in his 500 gallon. (They get more like 16 inches.) You may need to get a new tank soon.
Also, clown triggers get about 20 inches....if you end up getting one.

This is a temporary concept, the fish cannot live happily with no territories and places they feel comfortable. Long term the fish will go after each other in small tanks whether there are places to claim as territory or not unless there is enough territory for all of them(in aquariums there won't be).
I have to agree Pomatomus on this, that long term you most likely will see problems. However, being that you put them all together small it may work out ok.
If you add a Clown Trigger however, I will say that long term he will be the only fish in your tank. They are one of the meanest(if not meanest) fish anyone can put in their aquarium, not just towards Triggers either. The Clown WILL kill all the other fish in a 120 as it grows.
I would not recommend getting one unless you are going to house it in a species specific tank. They truely are beautiful fish, it is too bad they are little(or big) devils.
