Its really depend on how much you have in your pocket.
If your rich like Bill Gate.. 6 mil dollars system is just 6 dollars in your pocket.. why not buy it?

I don't think a projector with 4096 x 2160 resolution could be considered obsolete. I am in the market for one now and even the 15k ones have no where near that resolution.
I have been going crazy and over-elaborate on the sound proofing for our home theater, and all they did was use a bunch of books. Quite genius, but ugly.

Man, MFK is harsh. Like cichlidfiend said we love our fish, to us it's a waste of money. But to them, making a 1k+ fish tank is just stupid.
In truly think it's an epic set-up. Who cares if some of it is obsolete or not, it's epic. Plus your not going to be looking at all of the speaker and etc., it's a movie. You will be glued to the tv, not looking around at the speakers. He is a happy man and that's all that matters. He even said at the end that he would have made it either way for profit or not. Let the man have his glory, lol.

I could count atleast 16 of those mcintosh tube amps, I can't see a model on them, but they look to be a top series, with a retail around $15,000 a piece. Plus what did each amp stand cost? It seems possible to have costed $6 million all in all. Heck there's probably 2 million worth of amps and amp stands.
