I couldn't go past 30" on the width and still comfortably fit my dining room table in the room. Personally, I think tall tanks look a lot more impressive; I know a lot of people just go for length and width and don't care about height but visually I think it looks better and it gives the fish more swimming room.SHould have made the width 42 and heigth 30"
