Wow. You must be taking premium care of these guys. I got my ocels in July and my biggest is roughly 6”. I feel like I have been pampering them, and doing way more wc than any other fish I have ever had before. Although it took me 3 months to get them on to pellets. They are super picky, one won’t eat anything other than hikari carnivore or brine shrimp.

What were you feeding yours?

How about some photos of those mounted cichla that are on the table, have you put them up yet?

I got 5 monos at 4". Three of them are now at 8" and two of them (the ones that won't take pellets) are at 6" and significantly less bulky. I got the Azul at 6" in August and he is now 9". One of the Kelberi has gone from 5" in August to 8" now.

It took me a while to get them on pellets. I got them to eat earthworms fairly easily, and I began cutting those in half and stuffing them with pellets (those thin Hikari sticks). They transitioned to that pretty easily, and when they started waiting for food at the top I started alternating the stuffed worms with the large Hikari carnivore sticks. Some took it more quickly than others, but I had all but the two Monos on the Hikari sticks within about 30 days. Those two are just extremely stubborn and I'm going to give them away. The others pretty much eat any pellet that gets thrown in the big tank now.

Interestingly the new Intermedia and Kelberi that I put in the big tank with the others started eating pellets after 3 days even though they had been on feeders before at the store. I think they saw the others having a feeding frenzy and just joined in. That was refreshingly easy.

Ahh nice.I like that three spot orino.

That’s a nice stock. My Kelberi has been a royal pain getting onto pellets but will take them. Don’t give up on those monos yet they will eventually come around.

I won't really have room anyway; I have an Orino and a Xingu I'm growing out as well. Even this tank has limits. With the Orino and Xingu I'm looking at 9 peacock bass, 5 geos, an oscar, a sunshine pleco, and a vulture cat. That is a lot of biomass when they get to adult size.
