Wish I had the scratch to afford something like that.... Would love to compare it to my cheapy DIY stuff. :grinno:

Yup, used, second hand ones are all I can afford right now. :ROFL:

I've always wondered what it would take for a DIY one to keep up with a bead filter. The zero maintainance involved with beads is second to none though....... :(

Tell us more about this filter..... When it backwashes does that water go to a drain then that water is replaced via a drip system? I'm curious as to how exactly they work. :confused: Are the backwashes performed manually? Then you just refill the tank manually?

They use them at a lfs for there indoor koi ponds. They have 6 300 gallon ponds on 1 unit. The backwash reverses the flow in the filter and the waste water does exit through a drain. They backwash the water out and then refill when doing water changes. It is like have a drain but much faster because the pump is used to push the water out of the filter. So you can drain at the rate you pump flows. I want to run one when I build my pond with an inline UV and a inline strainer basket to hold the sock filters. The nice thing about being enclosed is you don't have to worry about the system draining during a power outage.
