the Aequidens gene

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I had a "true" GT it was a BEAST. However, I really think the common petstore variety gold and silver saums are far more attractive....

even though its not in this gene its similar in color and looks like it could be related but it the Thorichthys aureum , which is related to the firemouth

Shots of my Blue Acara (Aequidens Pulcher) when he's in a reasonable mood. Gets bullied by my angry Severum a fair bit so he's often a little washed out.

First two are flash, third is no flash.

Good judge of what they can look like. I think they're beautiful fish. I had a breeding pair of the 100% pure Blue Acara's (No Yellow/Orange on the dorsal I believe) but I had to get rid of them because of my current tank size. Replaced with my current single BA and I was lucky enough to get a specimen with a beautiful neon orange dorsal lining, as opposed to the normal solid yellow.

I have very very few true GTs left. And they are stunning fish as adults (BOTH females and males). I completely disagree on the true GTs looking like silver or gold saums, there's plenty of differences, including the tons of RED in the fins.

That said, there are tons of gorgeous Aequidens and "Aequidens" like fish out there. But let me know if you're interested in true GTs and I might be able to help you out!

PM sent. :)

And for the aggressive aspect, I think it varies tremendously with individuals (and with wild types versus captive bred, etc.)... But these guys are kinda rough and mix well with the tougher Viejas. Honestly, that still keeps them below the real nasties like some of the Amphilophus species, but it's all very tough to guess at.

ij ust want to know if they will be alright with my butti , i think so because my butti doesn't bother small cichlids and being the gts are small right now he should leave them alone cuz he doesn't see them as a threat . so i hope they will be ok till st ip another tank
