The answer to your what to put in it threads!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
this is great in theory, but would make a better compilation of articles since the amount of info would be huge. If you want to try that, I would love to help.

As far as the apistos go, most of the apistogramma sp. are close to the same size. A single, a pair, or a harem could fit in a 10g and you can go up with harems with tank size.

You have dwarf snakeheads for the 20g, but no dwarf puffers for the 10g? :nilly:

Nice job. That should help anyone with those annoying stocking questions.

i was thinking about puffers yesterday and was actually going ask if puffers could go in a ten gallon (i want one :D) i dont know anything about puffers and i forgot to even consider them. if a mod could add them to the list that would be great!!! thanks a lot.;)

looks good, except for a few previously mentioned and i wouldn't put something as aggressive as demasoni in something as small as a 20. but other than that pretty good start
actually you can. a demasoni wouldnt hurt a glass box would it?:grinno: with tankmates probably not but i have heard of it being done alone in a 20 gal.

That would be great!!!! i could start one but i think in the end it would end up like the profiles thread. only a handful of people did anything and nobody else contrubuted. I cant even begin to imagine how articles could happen (i am currently writing 4 for the tropical fish mag.:WHOA:) its hard work.
thanks for the support guys.
basically its throwing out many of the answers others would give to the threads.
it would be nice to have a picture for each one so that it isnt just a long list of names but i wouldnt be able to supply them myself.

Sorry i forgot the second part of your post. i disagree. aggassizi can grow to five inchesand would need more then a ten for life.
i currently have 2 hippolytaes and i dont think they would fit in a ten gallon.

Think you have a good idea, but I think people really need to do at least a bit more research or at least get a general idea of what they want before posting a "what should go in my new blah blah blah" It is like asking what should i get for a new car? Or what should I eat? or who should I marry? At least if you have an idea of what you are intersted in then it is far easier to list some suggestions.
Examples:
I want a sports car that gets decent milage. What should I get?
Oh, check out the eclipse, wrx, maybe a mustang with gas prices falling like they are.

I feel like eating some fastfood, maybe a burger.
Ok, McD's or bugerking are options. Try also jack in the box and whataburger if they have them in your area.

I really want a beautiful girl that has a carreer, is in line to inherit lots of money, loves to do my bidding in the umm.. kitchen, and loves monsterfishkeepers.
Oh, good luck with that one buddy. When you find her, hook me up with her sister.
or, in the case that my wife reads this
She's already taken buddy (but I can hook you up with her sister).

See how easy it is when they have an idea what they want.

I think the question posed when asking for tank size is more complicated than merely what can live in there for a lifetime. the question may be associated with tank mate compatibility, quality/difficulty of care, and a whole list of other variables that people are trying to consider when asking for a stocking list. Ergo, I would agree with Oscarcrazy in that it does call for more specifics and not such a general answer that only answers the question of size.

Good intentions though.

I think that this is a pretty good little guide that touches maybe a few of the more common species but leaves out quite a lot.
An easy to solve this dilemma of the countless fish left would be a simple generalization at the end of every tank size. Like to include the plethora of cichlids that only get within 5-7 or 8" max you could say at the end of the 55g tank "other 5-8" cichlids"
