Hey all,

I understand my options are pretty limited, but what are some good south american or central american cichlids that I am able to KEEP in a 30, not as a growout! I understand I may be limited to apistos or blue rams, but if you all could give me some better suggestions, I would love that.

Aren't salvinis too big at full size? Or do they stay ~6"? I love some of the pics of salvinis, but some of the full grown ones don't have that awesome yellow color and frankly look dull.

i would go convicts or firemouths ,my convict pair breed for fun, not sure if this is good or bad for you, but i think it great watching them raise the fry its a realy intresting process

These are some good basics. Also check out more fish from the cryptoheros genus, like cutteri or others, as most stay small.

For SA, check out the dicrossus and laetacara genus. A blue acara pair may work also. Oh, and gymogeophagus.

I'm sure there are many more than that, but those are off the top of MY head. :)
