What a beautiful animal. So glad you took him on and are giving him the respect and care he deserves-great job! Ive never kept salvadoriis, but would most certainly avoid any live-feeding,increases aggression in any animal, and with a beast like that tame is always better.Maybe try it on whole fillets of fish dusted with calcium if it will take them, far less fat than rats.

I think you mean whole fish;) Fillets are poorer. I think some fresh water fish like trout migth be good for variety but let him first recover from dierria and then we will see

Actually, coura, fillets are just as good as whole fish...and, they're easier to obtain.

As long as the food is wild caught, not farmed raised, then it should be just fine.

And, thanks Berber King. He's slimmed down alot and has become MUCH more active. His diet, right now, is a medium rat, every other day and lots of activity. From what I understand, this particular species doesn't take fish very often, but it'll eventually be offered and if he eats it, all the better.

Sweet monitor! I see your getting quite the collection of herps going, good for you. I've pretty much gotten completely out of my salt tanks for now, but I'll get back into again someday.

My girlfriend asked me again, today, if I was having withdrawls from the salt tanks yet. I said "nah"...don't have the room to set anything up anyway.

For the Croc, I traded a complete 90gal setup but I still have a few tanks in storage, including my 200gal. So, I'll get back in to it in the future.

I commented, today, that reptile shows are the devil, because I can't go to one without bringing something home. Today, we got the Tegu...he was a steal, at $25. Almost picked up my first Retic, but didn't have something set up for him already, so I talked myself out of it.

Last show, I got offered an adult GTP, for $125. The guy said it was "fairly tame" but when he pulled it out, it was trying it's best to tag him. I'd have gotten it, but my girlfriend can't keep her hards out of the enclosures, so I knew it'd only be a matter of time before she got tagged and an adult GTP isn't something you want to get hit by.

No you dint understend my point;) Whole fish just as mouse and rats has alongside the muscular meat, the guts and its content, bones, brain, etc, wille filets has just the muscular tissue, wich means its less complete in a nutricional stand point. Can be used however but because of the lack of indigestable parts its not good wille he still has unconsistente feces
