The best sand available that won"t cause havac with your canister filters?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I highly highly recommend it. Could not be happier with my purchase and all my friends wish they had my sand vs the lighter weight sand.

I'm going to try Carib Sea Torpedo Beach. Thanks Didisys and everyone. I'll post my findings.

Thanks so much Didysis, went out last night purchased a bag of torpedo beach and loved it. Great look and best of all does not stir up, and go into my intakes or stick on my motoro/hystrix.
Cheers.

For get all the play sand or pool sand or anything else.

This guy asked for the best and honestly the best is Carib Sea Torpedo Beach

Its a much larger grain and will not get sucked into filters. Also it does not stick to rays so you get to enjoy them as much as possible. I highly recommend it and would never use anything else. If you have looked at ray pictures im sure you have seen them with sand stuck to them and how none attractive it looks. View attachment 969913View attachment 969914

I have to agree with kevin on this. It is very good. Carib sea has a few types that work fine. Definitely the moonlight sand is fine like sugar so no good. Tahitian i used and found nice but it did get picked up in filtration. Peace river and torpedo beach are imo some of the best. Sunset gold is gorgeous but remains sand.

Install a spin down filter before your canister, the tornado action pushes sand to the sides and bottom. As sand gets in it you can drain it off bottom. Then who cares what kind of sand you get
