The big tank is here! (Pic load)

Does it have only a short piece of tubing coming down off the bulkhead then into a 90 barb then into the 90 into the sump?

Make some stand pipes and don't worry about it.
Search for Durso standpipe and make some!

Yep thats how it is set up. I think I may have just stumbled onto the solution. I have ball valves installed after the flappers...both were running full bore so I was getting 100% return into the tank. I throttled one of them down to about 75% and it leveled it off. So now I know what to do. Im gonna get some stand pipes and probably replace these Gen-X pumps with Reeflos. This thing sounds like a hot tub running in my living room  I still love it though, it is an impressive machine.

Two different landscaping supply stores. The larger rocks are river rock and the smaller rock is called native. Native to Texas I guess lol. The river rock was kinda pricey but the native was super cheap. Best bet is find a local rock yard or landscape supply store. Rinse it really good and put it in. Ive allready put about 8 shiners in the tank and they are doing just fine. I was somewhat concerned about the rocks being chemically treated in some way so I threw them in just to see if they would die. Bonus they lived so now they get to do the cycle :)
16oz of small river rocks cost $5.49 at PETCO I was selling mine that was at least more than 300lbs for $25 and nobody bought it then I just decided to use it.

Looks great i need a tank like this some day

Thats a hell of a deal. I got about 150lbs of the river rock for $50 and the native filler cost me $5 bucks for 225lbs.

Thanks man. Took me alot of years to finally be able to pull the trigger on this deal. Alot of things had to come first but I always kept the dream alive. Now theres a new dream...5000g before I kick the bucket! Gotta keep chasing.

They are alot of work to set up from scratch, but it is so worth it in the end. If youre anything like me though, youll be thinking "I could have gone a little bit bigger" :naughty:

I think everyone is always thinking that lol

i would have went pool filter sand on the substrate part... but over all I like it.
