where did you get those rocks????

Two different landscaping supply stores. The larger rocks are river rock and the smaller rock is called native. Native to Texas I guess lol. The river rock was kinda pricey but the native was super cheap. Best bet is find a local rock yard or landscape supply store. Rinse it really good and put it in. Ive allready put about 8 shiners in the tank and they are doing just fine. I was somewhat concerned about the rocks being chemically treated in some way so I threw them in just to see if they would die. Bonus they lived so now they get to do the cycle :)

Its alot more cloudy than my other tanks ive ever owned, but this one is tap water vs. spring water on all my others. Kinda hard to find almost 400 gallons of spring water :screwy:. Lets not mention cost lol. Hopefully it will clear over time.

This thing is also very noisy. Those 2 big overflows sound like 2 bathtubs filling side by side. Need to find a way to quiet that down some. Tenecor has a kit that somehow reduces overflow noise but ive never seen one so im not sure how it works. Anyone got any suggestions?

It can be made for under ten bucks all home depot or loews pvc. It's real easy. I have Tenacore also so I know the noise your talking about. It's called a durso stand pipe. There are a number of threads in the DIY self section. It will make it 110% better. Also the Cloud will go away when it's fully cycled. I would also add a UV on this big beast it can't hurt and will benifit you in the long run. http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38528&highlight=durso

It is nice but also a little nerve racking. The install is very fresh so I keep going back and looking for leaks and possible points of failure in the plumbing and stuff. Would really suck to have one of those drain pipes pop loose, it would drain about 75 gallons into my living room before the sump would run dry and burn up the pumps :nilly:. Same if one of the return hoses came loose. Not a scenario that I ever want to see play out. I know Ive got the water level right, if power ever fails the sump will hold it all.

I used stand pipes to quiet all the tanks I got. Although with all the tanks I ordered from tenecor every single one of them had tons of bioballs left. If that is your case also, what I have found is if you pour them into your overflow walla instance silence!!
Don't forget to add eggcrate on the drain to block any balls from getting in there. The plus to doing this is now you made your tank more quiet, you also added alot more media.
