The Biggest Rhom I've Seen In Person

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the videos looks great, truly a rare fish. it's very hard to find a diamond rhom at this size. glad that you decide to keep it until it passes.
as for driftwood, try contact Rod at www.thedriftwoodstore.com great guy and great store when it comes to driftwood, he can also build something custom for you if needed and price is pretty fair. just send him some pictures of what you want and he can try to duplicate something for you. doesn't need to pay upfront, you only pay for it if you want it. Highly recommended.

What kind of lights are you running?

if you don't already have lights then check out the 10W LED light recommended by Arttyfish, the 6000K version and according to him it's better to calling the order to make sure they send you the right unit. you just need to connect the cable end to a plug.

here's video of what it looks

you might need a few more cuz your tank is long and wide.

or you can look into the 70W metal halide from www.fishneedit.com
I'm using one over my 180g (about 1-2ft above my tank), this is what it looks like, you have acrylic tank right? so you shouldn't get the stupid shadow from the top brace like I did.

Thanks for the recommendations I'll check out his work. I really want to find local wood though, so I don't have to pay shipping. My canopy has 8 vho lights on it already. I think I'm going to use just 2 on the left end of the tank where I will have the plants. Driftwood will be on the right end.
I wanted him to find a new home before I moved him into my tank so the poor fella don't go from tank to tank. Now that he's here and I invested into his tankmates I'll keep him here for good. I like his company. I'll update with more pictures in a couple weeks. I'm letting the tank cycle some more then I will add a few roseline shark.

the shipping was too expensive, but depends on the size of wood and location. I got my centerpiece from him and shipping was $16.
anyway wish you find something cool locally, maybe check out local river/lake beaches.
can't wait for more pictures.

How can I tell if a driftwood from the river or pond is safe to use?

lol I meant to say shipping wasn't too expensive.
anyway, usually hard wood will do, something like oak. you can trim a small piece out and try it out in a small tank with fish and stuff to see if it's safe. just make sure the area is clean and free from chemicals and stuff.
pressure wash and steam wash to make sure you get as much stuff out as possible, boil it if you can.

Thanks and hope you find something cool and clean.

GUess you sold your big guy. What are you going to stock with your monster tank?
