lol hahaha. You wanted to see me back in the game, you got it. lol
Bro I am STOKED! Great Cichla keepers like yourself have been missed around these part's. Hopefully some of that SERIOUS CICHLA KNOWLEDGE will fall into the right hands. Now if I can just get you to start breeding some of those wondeful pick ups you always come bye IT's ON! :headbang2:popcorn: Man you are one of my best advisors and fellow keepers. If anything just for you and Hulon to start chating and for you to see the young C.E. do his thang it's worth it!

Can brokos handle the malachite green / formalin combo by AP quick cure for ich ?

Bro you have got to stop with the chemical's. I know he answered you in the other thread. But the question your asking is muttled. What size tank? How long has the tank been running? And how long have they had ich?

Quick answer with out seeing your tank-If the spot's are just on there body then bump heat up to 88-90. Add 1 tsp per to gallon of salt (Optional). And 10% W/C until condition's improve. Also keep live/prepaired to keep the Cichla healthy and relaxed.

If you see ich attached to glass or decore- THEN use chemical's and pray.

If you see ich attached to glass or decore? You can only see iche in a matured form on it's host. I might have missed the sarcasm lol

I have a 75 gallon tank. Been running approx. 4 weeks.

Temp is 85...Thats all I can get it to.

ph 7.2

nitrates 0.0

nitrites 0.0

ammonia 0.0

1 tablespoon aquarium salt to 5 gallons of water.

25% w/c every other day.

Have ich for 8 days now. Been treating it for 7 days with aquarisol and began doing the salt thing 4 days ago with aquarisol.

My Broko is showing more new spots all the sudden after the others just cleared up.

Only my broko has the ich. None of my other fish have the ich.

I asked about how well aquarisol worked in a different thread because I was not too happy with it. Quite frankly I think its junk.

I always used AP Pro quick cure with sucess in the past. I only avoided it this time because of my peacock bass sensitivity.

I did not add it yet because I wanted to see if anyone here ever used it for cichla.

I would get a better heater in there. 7 day's sounds like a long time. bOOsten is right LOL just giving you a hard time you won't see it crawling on the tank but can you get a picture of the Broko? Specifcly his gills? Im just curious to see if it has spread this far after this legnth of time. It should have cleared up with the salt.

I thought your comment about the ich crawling on the glass was hilarious. lol !!

I've been into this hobby for many years but the cichla thing is totally new for me.

I had 1 cichla juvenile last year that came down with ich within a couple days. I used jungle ick clear and the bass went blind the next day. It was euthanized sadly.

Thats why I've seemed like a newbie here with my present situation. I'm using a new chemical free way of treatment because I don't want to chance losing my broko like the bass I had last year.

I was into umbees and the means stuff for years but I got tired of fish beatings going on in my tank. The Rapps Brokos did it for me making me get into cichla.

Check out my personal gallery if you want to see my new comunity.

I'm already praying I don't have to resort to using my AP-PRO Ich cure. T

Being new to cichla , what does C.R.E.A.M mean ?

Good luck with the recovery. Bacterial infections are usually lethal in cichla because of their sensitivity. Usually by the time the skin and fins start rotting away, it's way past too late, and they die in a few days. The infection had progressed all the way to gill curl? They are almost always dead before that happens. Amazing! These are unusually tough buggers, and definitely deserve a second chance. Best wishes!

I thought it was funny. Try to keep everybody :D.

Yea I have used that jungle stuff in the past it's deadly. I stopped using ich treatment's since then. I just share my experinces as well I have not had ich in a while. But I recently sold a few Mono Peruvins that came down with ich but since then the buyer has cured it. Usually it will just take EXTREME heat and salt (I use epsiom salt). Two or three day's of 10-20% W/C and you start to see an improvement. Most important is the temp. If you have a 75g I would go get a heater rated for 100g and you should solve the issue of not being able to obtain 88+ degree's. I have a 100g tank so there similar. Also just a suggestion and my personal method. Why not use a smaller tank to treat for illness and such? It gives you a better controlled enviroment. For me I alway use my ten gallon. ;)

One more funny line: I have lost one cichla to bacteria/diesease/illness so that's 1 out of 24. Not so bad even with my math but truth is he wasn't really mine I was Cichla sitting! So Im sorry Paul I kiiled your Tem!

What is your exact salt to gallon mix and exact temp ?

I need to kill these little buggers.

I will say my Broko is acting great. Always waiting to eat and eats very good. It loves to mess with my other farm raised mystery peacock bass.
He is ascerting himself among my comunity.

BTW- If the bass was not yours then it does not count as a casulty , officially : )
