Some update of my new tank.

ONE casualty :cry: When I was trying to net my biggest kelberi ( from Rapps' 2nd batch, the one with couple spangles in anal fin ), it jumped and hit the top of my 220 gal tank. Right after that... it became lethargy and died within 2 hours... It was MY favorEST cichla... WHY WHY and WHY.

Actually I am glad I get to change a bigger tank now coz sooner or later this will happen to others when they outgrow the tank.

The rest of them did well x more than 24hrs. They all took some feeders and now swim around.

I did not know cichla display themselves in front of mirror like bettas??? They color up pretty nicely. COOL.

Im sorry for your loss bro, I know the feeling:cry: I had the same exact incident this past weekend!!!

Right.. I remember I asked you: " Why did you net it so HEAVILY?? "
I tried to avoid this to happen, but the moment the net touched the water, they just freaked out and bumped into everything. Is there anything that I could have done to prevent this???

I went to Canadian Tire, and I bought a fishing net large enough to cover A LOT of space and easy to maneuver in my 400. That was the only way I could catch anything in there. Easy to scoop them all (or most of them) without much chasing around.

Another thing you can do is get the water down to 20% ...not a lot of place to move for them, and they usually end up jumping in the net.

Sorry for your loss man.

Something like this, but the one I got had a longer handle, 4'+, it was easier to handle the width of the 400.

Nice James.... put the driftwood you got in there. That's a nice piece. Actually what I would do is attach some anubias or fern on that piece. Would make an incredible center piece, or just sell me the wood...LOL.. ;)
It wanted to float so bad, I couldn't even push it under the water with 2 hands and my body weight. I almost flipped. Wanna come help me out???
I don't feel right this week... things kept going wrong..... I will wait until everything settle down and find a better way to sink that thing.

Lesson learned. thanks. I like the idea to drain water out and just leave enough to breath before netting them out. WHY WHY WHY.........I thought I had everything prepared until the last step.
I was staring at dead body for a good 5 minutes. The moment I heard that loud sound... I knew something bad happened.

haha.. thanks for the picture. I got it. ^_^
