The coconut crab (Birgus latro) ... wow...

I believe it's the largest land invertebrate in the world but not the largest species of crab. Those king crabs or whatever on the show "Deadliest Catch" get bigger.

those arn't the biggest species either, the biggest are those deep water crabs that zoodiver worked with that get to like 13 feet leg span.

i saw one of those yesterday at the local aqua-zoo...was sitting in a medium-sized terrarium with some sand and wood
(will upload pics if anyone is interested)
pretty cool, if these were readily obtainable i'd get one

Yeah, it was nasty. Steve-O was in some serious pain. It was a monster crab.
