The deal with oscars

IMO Oscars are cool to have if I am very poor and cantr afford other fish. but if I had to make room for other fish, the oscars would be the first to go.

Only thing I hate about oscars is that they are SO FREAKIN' SLIMY and are messy eaters.

thats pretty gross, trust. anyway for a long time I didn't care for oscars as well due to their immense abundance in the hobby.

however in the past two months I've recognized a sudden personal desire for one, due to mental realization of their impressive body shape, the attractiveness of non-albino oscars, and their predatory nature. Regrettably, I don't have the space for any more fish though.

Oscars were my first love when I got involved in fishkeeping (back when I had a 30 gallon-- everyone's heard that story before, lol). Puffers are the only other fish that have ever come close. But then, I am more interested in a fish that I can interact with than a fish that breaks things and eats/maims/murders other fish.

We are getting around the "way too common" tag by trying to pick up some wild caughts and set up a breeding pair.

oscars are cool when their young (5-6 inches), but when they are huge or reach max size, they are lazy, and have big huge eyes, big lips and for red oscars, the red color looks like some1 splattered paint all over it... they look like a blob when their full grown.

don't get me wrong, they do have one of the best personalities, but their color is not as I thought it would be. Maybe the albinos are better looking or the tigers, but the common red oscar is not too good when its huge

i love my albino oscar had him for 7 years now andhes great

I love my Albino Oscar too and I have had him for almost a yr or two. he his the mean dog in the tank so much that I can him Jaws. I also have a tiger Oscar he is more calmer than my albino. I brought them from Wal-mart cause I couldnt let them die, now they are grownin everyday and I cant find a home for them. But the point is that I looovee these guys
