The economy and YOUR fish keeping?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well im a teen in Canada.
sure the dollar is high for us, but prices are rising:(
this has made me put off pressurized co2 and stick with diy

In my opinion people really need to get their priorities straight. A hobby like fish keeping is just that, A HOBBY. The day to day expenses , caring for the family, food etc. need to be done first. I remember reading on here in the past about a guy who was buying fish stuff and then said he wasn't sure he could afford christmas presents, geeez. We all want stuff we can't get right now, but we need to save and spend wisely not spur of the moment and then we can eventually get all the goodies we want and not worry bout where our next meal or tank of gas is coming from.

Fish are like crack in that way I guess... Can a coke habit be considered a "hobby"?

I love hearing americans complain about the price of gas! It just cost me $9.24/US Gallon to fill up! Feel the Pain!

No one said that the europeans had it ez but i know i drive about the smae distance that liverpool is away from manchester 33.7 miles one way and in a truck that gets 13.4 miles to the gallon. you may pay more but i fill up more to make it about equal

i paid $147 to fill my truck today.. my fish hobbie is prettymuch just getting rolling.. im limited by the strength of the floor of my rented house as well as money in general.. i was planning on doing some home improvement so i could get bigger tanks.. but well.... not so much anymore....

at the same time though ive also been trying to save more money because i hate where i work and im wanting to get a new job... im smart enough to leave myself with nothing

Gas is still cheap compared to diesel. Diesel fuel for my Superduty pickup costs $4.22 per gal. in my area. :irked:It's increased 20 cents in the past couple of days. Hasn't slowed down my hobbies so far. :grinno: I just ordered $500 worth of Discus for my planted 240 gal. :D
