Not that theres anything wrong with reading about those books, because they are actually interesting, but there are some types who, you know, gets too involved with those things and it starts getting into their egos.. I think you know what kind of people Im talking about. Ive met actually quite a few
Im going to assume you are a cool guy for the time being.. lol

A) helps them live a happy life and gives them some sort of guidance, or
B)helps them ease their fears of the unknown.
personally i have studied religions because it does fascinate me, just as how mythology fascinates me.i am not against any religion nor am i a part of any.
i view things from outside the religious beliefs and am perfectly happy not knowing how man came about the earth and not knowing where i go when i die. i do not fear the unknown therefore i do not need "something" to belive in or follow.
i do not fear death for it is inevitable.i do what i can to prolong my life in a way to be a healthy happy one, but i do not believe i have to follow "rules" of a specific religion in order to maintain a morally sound life.
like i said before an open mind is the best way to view life and to each their own.

This is just silly, and wrong, after reading through the God is imaginary link, I have a response to every one of those "proofs" that God doesn't exist. I know now you say "Of course typical Christian", but what I want you to understand, and delgado sort of hinted at it is, YOU ARE EXSPRESSING FAITH IN SOMETHING TOO! Wether you like it or not you have lumped yourself into one of those categories of people without "open minds". I'll quote you "A) helps them live a happy life and gives them some sort of guidance, or
B)helps them ease their fears of the unknown." You have decided for yourself what you belive in and that helps you to live a happy life, and guides you. " i am not against any religion nor am i a part of any." Unfortunatly this is not true. There are plenty of links out there for the existence of God or the evidence that the world was created and you didnt provide those. Again I'm not holding you to the standard of being unbiased, I'm just showing how your view is biased, just like mine (I admit it). "but i do not believe i have to follow "rules" of a specific religion in order to maintain a morally sound life." This one puzzles me because after looking at all those personal pronouns used earlier in this post I think it's quite evident that you DO have a set of rules that you follow, and that is how you determine what is right and wrong. I dont mean to pile on you, and I mean that. It's just that I hear this from a lot of people, and I think that there is much to be gained by everyone if we can get over the whole "silly Christian" thing.

I'm not looking to start an arguement ending in insults and a locked thread but, if Jesus loves everyone and all that jazz, then whats with all the hate for *** people?
If your answer has anything to do with family values or morals, keep it to yourself. Neither one should be based on hate.
And before some numbskull calls me ***, nope, sorry, I'm not. I just don't understand why it is that people who often run around telling me Chistianity is about acceptance and tolerance can automatically dislike someone based entirely on who they fall in love with.
I have no problem with people following whichever religion they like, but I do have a problem with those that think they have the right to knock on my door and shove it down my throat.
The local church's latest trick is to send some grandma and little kid out to do their business. Sorry, I'm still going to close the door on you.
Another thing, I just found this funny. I'm sure most here know Jack Van Impe, well, in his infinte wisdom, he has repeatedly wrongly predicted the end of times. Well, I was flipping through the channels a few days ago and came across his show. The very first sentence I heard "The world will not ever come to an end"
Apparently we are supposed to just forget everything he has said over the years, he probably won't care, so long as he can keep selling his books. BTW just how much money is he worth now?
